VGK Watch Party Recap: Golden Knights Close Out Round 1 with 5-1 Game 6 Win
Friday, May 1, 2026 — Tailgate Beach Club at Mandalay Bay
The Vegas Golden Knights eliminated the Utah Mammoth 5-1 in Game 6 on Friday night at Delta Center, taking the first-round series 4-2 and punching their ticket to Round 2 against the Anaheim Ducks. Down here on the Strip, our official VGK watch party at Tailgate Beach Club turned into the loudest pool deck in the city — and we have the recap to prove it.
The Game That Sent VGK to Round 2
It was supposed to be tight. It wasn't. After dropping Games 2 and 3 and clawing back through a wild double-OT win in Game 5, the Golden Knights came into Game 6 with one job: end it. They ended it.
By the time the clock hit zero, Vegas had a 5-1 win, the series in the bag, and a few days off before opening Round 2 in Anaheim. For the eighth time in nine seasons, the Golden Knights are still skating in May.
Inside the Watch Party at Tailgate Beach Club
Our pool deck has hosted a lot already since opening last week — but Game 6 was the first night Tailgate truly felt like the home of Vegas sports fandom on the Strip. Every cabana booked. Every bar stool gone. 125+ feet of LED screen lit gold and black. A capacity crowd in jerseys, screaming at every shot on goal like the puck was personally insulting them.
A few moments that stood out:
- Goal celebrations that shook the deck. When VGK pulled away in the third, the entire 50,000-square-foot venue lost it. The pool was technically still water. Technically.
- Cabana 12 went undefeated. Whoever you are — you're our blueprint. Every group should celebrate a series win like that.
- The chant battles. "Go Knights Go" got louder every period. By the third, you could hear it from the Mandalay Bay tram.
Why Tailgate Is Becoming the Place to Watch VGK in Las Vegas
Watching the Golden Knights at home is great. Watching them at T-Mobile Arena is iconic. Watching them on a 50,000-square-foot pool deck under the desert sky with two thousand of your closest friends? That's a new option in this city — and based on Game 6, it's already a favorite.
Here's what makes a VGK watch party at Tailgate different:
- You see every angle. 125+ feet of LED means you can watch the puck from anywhere on the deck.
- Cabanas have private TVs. Want to bring a group of 10 and not fight for sightlines? Done.
- Pool plus playoffs. Yes, you can be in the water for a power play. We checked. It's allowed. It's encouraged.
- The crowd shows up. Vegas has the most dedicated fanbase in the league, and they brought it Friday.
What's Next: Round 2 vs. Anaheim Ducks
The Golden Knights opened Round 2 with a 3-1 win at home before dropping Game 2. Game 3 is Friday, May 8 in Anaheim. The series is wide open, and we'll be open for every game.
If you missed Game 6, here's your chance to make Round 2 your home arena. Cabanas and reservations are live now.
